My name is Will Fields.

After more than four decades as a photographer, I have become less interested in showing what a place looks like and more interested in what it feels like to stand there long enough for the world to quiet.

My work begins with attention. I spend time in a place until light changes, motion softens, and something less obvious begins to appear. I am not trying to make landscapes more dramatic than they are. I am trying to notice the moment when looking itself becomes enough.

The central body of work on this site is Interiority, a series of photographs exploring the inward experience of standing in the presence of immensity. These images are not about landscape as spectacle, but about the quiet threshold where the outer world resolves something within.

I make photographs in the hope that someone will pause long enough to feel why I stopped in the first place.

Biography

Will Fields is a fine art photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona. After a four-decade career in commercial photography in Chicago, he now devotes his work to long-term fine art projects centered on landscape, stillness, atmosphere, and perception.

His photographs have been selected for exhibitions including the Griffin Museum of Photography 32nd Annual Juried Members’ Exhibition, Foto Forum Santa Fe Annual Members’ Show, and the Naturalist Gallery of Contemporary Arts Landscape Collection.

In addition to his photographic practice, Fields teaches photography through critiques, workshops, and one-on-one instruction, helping photographers develop stronger personal vision and a more intentional way of seeing.
